Laura Godfrey - Board Chair
Laura is a retired faculty and administrator from Fort Lewis College where she spent nearly 25 years involved in international education, sociology and writing programs as well as serving as the Director of Assessment. She has extensive experience with grant evaluation and is currently a grant consultant with San Juan College, Fort Lewis College and the University of West Florida. Laura has know Lisa for over 20 years and has seen her passion for rescuing abandoned, unwanted dogs grow over the years from a random rescue from Burger King in Kayenta to a thriving organization. Laura has fostered mothers and litters several times and her dog Mia (a husky, aussie, shepard, chow and who knows what mix) is from the first litter with teen mom, Juno, and 8 puppies.
Sarah Sablosky - Vice Chair
Sarah is currently a Social/Emotional Interventionist at Needham Elementary. In the past she was a Special Education Teacher at Durango High School, and for three years a stay at home mom. Sarah is also a current board member of Riverhouse Children’s Center, and active supporter of a handful of other local nonprofits. Sarah and her husband, Brad, have two children: Bryn 4 years and Erik 1 year, and one furry kid: Riley 2 years. Sarah was born and raised in Durango, and graduated from Fort Lewis College before spending three years at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. It was during this time that she fell in love with the "rez dog". After witnessing the plight of this amazing “bread” during her countless trips back and forth between Durango and Flagstaff, she made a promise to herself that if and when the time was right this is the kind of dog she would adopt. After returning to Durango full time, she met Brad who was already a proud parent to Loki, a lab/chow mix picked up in Kayenta. Years later Sarah reconnected with Lisa, whom she had first met while attending Fort Lewis. Shortly after, Lisa introduced Brad and Sarah to Thora who became the first of their two LPP adoptees. After Thora's untimely and unexpected death, Lisa was called upon again. Because of Lisa's amazing ability to know a dog inside and out, she matched them once again with the perfect dog. Sarah her family enjoy camping, hiking, bike riding, and skiing.

Michelle and Lisa became friends after Lisa inquired of accounting work with FredrickZink & Associates, PC. Michelle quickly inquired about the cute, innocent little puppy named Rugby who was still available for adoption.
Erin Van Winkle - Secretary
Erin is a 5th grade school teacher in Bayfield, Colorado. She has been a resident of Durango for 26 years and absolutely admires dogs. Erin and Lisa became friends after a Face Book post to rescue an adult male Pitt Bull. (Ziggy) Erin volunteered to foster this amazing dog and as they say the rest is history. Erin rescued her dog Eddy 14 years ago and he was introduced to another rescue from Kayenta, Keel. Keel and Eddy are no longer with us but those 2 dogs started the path of doing all she could for unwanted pups. Erin has an LPP adopted dog named Aggy that her and her partner John fostered and fell in love with. Erin continues to support LPP, helping out as needed with various activities and fostering. Erin and John enjoy their now 2 dogs (Rufus and Aggy), camping, hiking, dirt bike riding, river running and skiing. Erin also serves on the board for Animas River Days.
Cheril Comisar - Board Member
Cheril has been a Registered Nurse in the fields of Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatrics for the last 38 years. She and her husband Frank moved to Durango in 2014 from Omaha, NE. They followed their dream and opened Scenic Aperture Gallery in Downtown Durango. Cheril met Lisa in the fall of 2015 and it was an instant connection. Her love and passion for animals, especially dogs and cats fit right in with Lisa’s mission. She currently has 2 Ragdoll cats named BobCat and TomCat- AKA Bobby Kitty and Little Tom. They have had several dogs and cats over the years and Cheril loves to get her “puppy fix” with Lisa’s dogs and the rescues. “Lisa’s never ending commitment and love for all of her rescues is inspiring to me. I love being able to donate my time and energy to this wonderful organization”. If Cheril is not at Scenic Aperture or at work in her nursing job, she can most likely be found at Lisa’s working on event/fundraiser planning and loving all of the fur babies.
